Together we’re going to finish a really big thing

In two weeks on Kickstarter, with your help, I’ll launch the final four books of my epic comic series: By the Time I Get to Dallas #5 & #6 and Trinity Project #5 & #6. What for so long was theoretical is now feeling real and palpitation-inducing, as I face the prospect of completing this story that has consumed a quarter of my life!
But I need you to get us over the finish line.
Through this newsletter, I’ve been writing to you for years about the fight to stay creative in the face of midlife pressures. It hasn’t been easy. Working in the ER through COVID, raising kids, caring for parents—through all that it’s been hard to justify spending so much effort on a frivolous thing, a comic book. But that comic book kept me going. And by saying this out loud to you, it made me accountable, and pushed me to deliver what I promised. I never would have gotten to this point without you there to keep me honest.
By the Time I Get to Dallas: With 80% of homo sapiens migrating to one spot on the globe, a struggling medical student must save, or maybe destroy, humanity.
Now with two weeks to go, I need to rally every friend, every reader, every backer, every fellow creator, to get us funded, printed, and shipped, so we can all read this story to the final page up to The End.

How we got here
- 2011: I jotted down a dream I had about everyone in my neighborhood dropping what they were doing and walking away.
- 2013: I turned that dream into a 90-page comic book script.
-

Art: Juanfran Moyano 2015: I hired an art team and editor, made a 9-page mini book and pitched it to publishers. Got interest, but no dice.
-

Pencils Juanfran Moyano, inks Dario fas Marin, colors Jay Moyano, letters Jaymes Reed 2019: After a crisis of confidence, I rewrote and completed By the Time I Get to Dallas #1, along with a companion prequel, The Trinity Project #1, and successfully launched it on Kickstarter, finding fans all over the world.
-
I’ve been rinsing and repeating since then, and here we are: the first four installments are finished, with two left to go.
So what is left to be done? We’re in the final stretch of art production and it is looking spectacular. The ending delivers with a bang for sure.

Day 1 is Crucial
The best thing you can do to help make this book with me is back it on the first day of the launch. A strong first day gives the campaign momentum and helps new people discover it on Kickstarter.
To this end, for the first time ever, I’m offering an Early Bird Discount. For the FIRST 48 HOURS ONLY, all rewards will be marked down. Make sure you get there before that deal is gone.
Thank you
If not for your support and encouragement, I wouldn’t have made this story, and I wouldn’t be able to say I’m a comic book maker. I’d probably have spent that time playing golf, badly. I much prefer this. I can’t wait to deliver to you the final product, to finish this thing we started.
See you on Launch Day!
Colin
